IWSG: Growing Up
It's the first Wednesday of the month and time for another round of the Insecure Writers Support Group! Can you believe that Alex J. Cavanaugh has been hosting for two years? Talk about awesome!
This month I'm taking a little break from my insecurities (they're still there, especially in the middle of Pitch Madness) to talk about something else entirely.
Today is my baby's 1st birthday.
I'm pretty sure I'm not going to have any more children so it's really sad to think that the last baby in my house is now turning into a toddler.
I can hardly believe I'm old enough to have three kids, much less three kids which are growing without my permission.
Today I'm going to step away from the computer and squeeze my youngest as hard as I can, because he's growing up way too fast.
Do you ever wish time would just slow down?

Cute kids. And yes, they will grow up without your permission. And do a lot of other things, too.
Happy first birthday to your boy.

Nothing, not even writing, can take the place of those precious baby moments. Cherish, cherish, cherish!
I know what you mean. My five-year-old just started school, and she's my last. It is so sad, and really makes me feel my age.
I know, right? If I had known about that little clause ... ah, who am I kidd'n. Everyone grows, but at least we can capture a glimpse of the past with cameras and stuff and watch our kids as kids whenever we like. :)
Yeah I kind of have this tug-and-pull with my thoughts on time. On one hand I have a son graduated from college and a daughter in her senior year in high school, and wonder how did they become adults so very quickly. My mama's heart gets sad.
On the other, I know that a new phase in life is on the horizon and I'm so excited to see what that may be.
You know that anxiety dream where you've missed the final exam for a class? Yeah, that was my twenties, just in real life. One day I was sitting in the car counting my blessings as it were and I got to the end of my list and thought, "not bad for 23. Wait, 23? that's not right." I counted it out. I was three years off! I was floored. So yeah. I get that feeling.
Time is going rather slow for me atm...
And don't worry. Soon enough you'll be begging to be an empty nester. ;)
Happy birthday to your baby!
