Mood Swings
As I sit here and write this post, I should be writing my book. I had all these grand intentions. My time was plotted out and everything. But then I tried to go to the store and my daughter had a complete meltdown. I mean, screamingatthetopofherlungsandnotstopping kind of meltdown.
I had to leave my crap in the cart and rush home to put her to bed. I was little angry and most defiantly frustrated. When she finally settled down to sleep (and my son went outside to play) I thought it was my chance to write.
I opened up my document and stared at the screen. I couldn't write becasue I wasn't in the right frame of mind. I think I'm typing this now as a way to get myself back to that point. My poor characters have been sitting in the shadows just waiting for action, and I'm here waiting for the action to come to my brain.
Everyone, breathe deep with me. Close your eyes and make a humming noise and send good vibes my way.
Ah, that's better. Time for me to get back to writing.
What do you do when you aren't 'in the mood?'

I'll read and usually that gets me inspired.
When I'm not in the mood, I usually just play a game or go for a walk. Something that involves no brain power!
Hoping the mood passes and maybe after a nice cup of tea you get back to the writing. :)
Music often helps take me away and get me started back on track. Thanks for the reminder!
And so glad you got those 1200 words out. Nice work! :D
Sorry you had a frustrating day! I know the feeling.
I usually play my guitar for a while. Clears my head.
I'm so glad you were able to write after all.
When I'm not in the mood, I tell myself it's either write something or run for five miles. Writing wins. :)
To get in the mood, I usually force myself to start writing. If a few pages in I'm STILL not feeling it, I stop.
I know I'll feel it again very soon.
Hm. When I'm not in the mood, I usually do one of three things. 1- something else ;) 2- power through it, or 3- go do something (like fold clothes) that will allow me to think about exactly what I'm going to write. Then it all comes easier.
