Writers Conferences

Tis the season for writers conferences and I'm planning on attending a few. Here are some for my to-do list.

NiNoCon



Everyone can attend this one as it takes place online. What does NiNoCon stand for? Ninja Novel Conference, of course.  It's the lovely brain child of Ali Cross. Go check it out here for more information.

LTUE


Life The Universe and Everything is Feb 9th-11th in Provo, UT. I'm only going on Saturday, but there will still be big names like James Dashner, Dan Wells, Richard Paul Evens, and Brandon Mull to name a few. It's only $30 for all three days and $20 for just one day. So, if you live close by you won't want to miss this one!


LDS Storymakers


This one isn't until May, but it's best to sign up now as there are only 450 seats. I'm going to both days of this one and I am seriously excited. There will be some great speakers and I've submitted my 1st chapter to their contest. Super fun!

These look like a great variety of conferences. Though I don't have any planned, I like the idea of online conferences too, making it easy for writers to "attend."

I've enjoyed LTUE and LDStorymakers the last two years - so helpful. But this year I'm not planning on attending. I hope I don't regret it! I'm trying to focus more on actual writing than learning how to write. :)

I have a wishlist, but can't attend a real conference this year, so an online conference would be an excellent alternative. Thanks for the heads up!

I haven't heard of NiNoCon. Thanks for the heads up! I'm going to LTUE... but probably only Thursday and Friday (unless I end up being on a panel on Saturday). :'( But for sure I'll get to meet you at Storymakers! I'm excited!

Ooh, I'm planning on LTUE and Storymakers as well! I love them both so much. Conferences are the best! Maybe we'll catch each other at one or the other. :)

Whoot-whoot! I plan on attending all of those too! I will only be at LTUE on Friday, but I'll be there :) Can't wait for them either! I am SO EXCITED!!! I'll also hopefully participate in WriteOnCon and LUW too. Crossing fingers. :)

Those conferences sound great. I can't afford to go to any for a while, but they're always worthwhile. I can't do the online one on Feb. 4th, but I'll pass on the info. Sounds really good. Thanks!

I'm going to the San Francisco Writer's Conference in a month. Oddly enough it fills me with a mix of excitement and foreboding. Hopefully more of the former;)

So far, I'm only able to afford AWP in Chicago the last week of Februaray. But, hopefully I'll hit PNWA, and LeakyCon's Lit Day as well....stupid money :/

The Noveling Journey

cr: Diter Laskowski This past weekend I spent 10+ hours in a minivan with four small children. One of those children is only eighteen months old. On top of being squirmy, said child had started antibiotics for an ear infection only the day before. He can also scream very loud. As one must do with such an experience, I tried to find the positive. It was either that or breakdown and sob which wouldn't do anyone good. What I came to realize in the anxiety to and from my destination, was that I had been going about noveling all wrong. And trust me, it wasn't a negative thought. One thing I know about road trips is that if I want to get somewhere, I have to keep going. Stopping at Buc-ee's is really fun. It's great to stretch my legs and buy myself some beaver nuggets, but it's not going to get me anywhere. The longer I hang out at Buc-ee's, the later I'll show up. Writing is the same.
