Making Marketing Connections

I have been a stay-at-home mom for almost four years, and though I love my children dearly, there is a point as mother when you start to wonder if you are ever going to have anything that is just for you. It's true that not all mothers feel this way, but I certainly did.
Then, eight short months ago, I started blogging. Never did I imagine how it would change my life and what doors it would open for me. The intent of this blog was, and still is, to talk about the process of creating a literary work.
If I where to go through my posts and read them like I would a fiction novel I think I would find it similar to a hero's epic journey. There have been challenges, lows, and times when I feel like everything is working against me. But there have also been those sweet moments when you find out that all the grief was worth it.
Every time I think about my journey thus far, I find I have been blessed again and again. And yesterday I got one more glimpse of why it is worth it to put myself and my writing out there.

I have a friend who owns several successful websites and yesterday he asked me to blog for them. I'm not going to share the websites, because what I write there will be more incognito. (What I'm doing for them is about helping their business, not building my platform.)
That being said, I have another dream coming true becasue of my blogging. I am getting paid to write. Sure, I'm not getting a bestseller out there (Which would be the ultimate fiction writing goal) but I am getting a little side cash doing something I love, and honestly I couldn't be happier.
How has blogging / social media influenced your life?

Blogging had taught me soooo much about the publishing industry, I was completely clueless. and I've connected with some awesome writers, that's been the best part of this whole blogging thing. definitely!
Blogging is a place where I can have conversations about the things, quite frankly, The Wife doesn't care about. She's heard most of my stories already, and she's not into sci-fi, fantasy, post-apocalyptic, and really most of the things I like. Which is cool. More for me. But, I get to share them with like minds, have chats about them, and meet some really cool people. Present company included, naturally.
Also - I felt the same way as a stay-at-home-mom. I love blogging! It truly keeps me sane! Plus, I have met the most amazing people.
I'm so thankful I started blogging as well. I've met SO many wonderful people. I just love the writing community. SO supportive and friendly. It makes me happy knowing I don't just talk to kids all day! lol ;)
I'm with Josh. I blog to talk about stuff the hubby is so sick of hearing with people who won't get sick of it, cuz they're pretty much as obsessed as I am.
Also because I'm at home with two kids, that though conversations about Mickey Mouse and Super Why are awesome, I long for adult interaction. I've made some wonderful friends in blogger world, and learned so so so much!
I agree with the whole blogging experience. There are so many wonderful people I have meet through it. Plus it's nice to know that I'm not going through this alone. <3
So far, the only way my blogging has helped me, is to introduce me to many wonderful writers who all have their own unique opinions on the world of writing. Which I think is pretty great.
Congratulations on the new job! I'm very happy for you!
Great post!
Bloggers are the best resource for tips, entertainment, and warm encouragement. So glad I got started.
