Friday's Inspiration

This week we are going way back, 13 years to be exact. I was in 8th grade and I had just purchased my first "angry girl/teenager" album. Most of the songs where about heart break and how everyone else was messed up. But one song stuck with me throughout the years, and even though I've listened to it over, and over, and over again. I still love it.

Something about the way her voice is so smooth and mellow, and how lyrics speak of not quite finding your place, it makes me want to cry every time.

By the way, I have no idea what this show is! This was just the video with the best sound quality, so close your eyes and be cradled by the music.

That song significantly lowered my blood pressure I bet. Very soothing voice...and now I can't get it out of my head. Curse you Jennie and your great taste in music >:(!

I have always loved "What a Wonderful World," but necessarily Louis Armstrong's voice. There is a really pretty version sung by Chris Daughtry from American Idol and then also a neat version by a Hawaiian big guy, Israel something, both on YouTube.

This always make me think of my kids and the beauty that is awaiting them and how blessed I am to have them in my life.

Way back 13 years to 8th grade??!! LOL....I'd have to go back to 1984 for my 8th grade memories. That would include Michael Jackson's Thiller, Van Halen's Jump, Def Leppard's Pyromania....Oh lord, shoot me now....

Aaaah! I didn't listen to this song too much, but Natalie Imbruglia is a rare artist who's stuck with me through the years! Hearing this song recalls so many hours driving with my best friend from college . . .

Most of what I'm listening to isn't very inspiring. My friend just linked a song from Halo (which I'd love to have on my iPods for running), but most of what I'm listening to is straight off the pop stations: E.T., F**king Perfect, F**k You. (The expletives do not reflect my current state of being!)

The Noveling Journey

cr: Diter Laskowski This past weekend I spent 10+ hours in a minivan with four small children. One of those children is only eighteen months old. On top of being squirmy, said child had started antibiotics for an ear infection only the day before. He can also scream very loud. As one must do with such an experience, I tried to find the positive. It was either that or breakdown and sob which wouldn't do anyone good. What I came to realize in the anxiety to and from my destination, was that I had been going about noveling all wrong. And trust me, it wasn't a negative thought. One thing I know about road trips is that if I want to get somewhere, I have to keep going. Stopping at Buc-ee's is really fun. It's great to stretch my legs and buy myself some beaver nuggets, but it's not going to get me anywhere. The longer I hang out at Buc-ee's, the later I'll show up. Writing is the same.
